Dear Friend, If you've watched the award-winning Bollywood comedy Movie "3 Idiots" (Farhan, Raju, and Rastogi), you'll recall the quote: "LIFE IS A RACE, IF YOU DON'T RUN FAST, YOU'LL BE LIKE A BROKEN ANDA [ Egg]. I was about 11 or 12 years old when I heard this quote, and it was the first time I experienced the profound impact of words on my emotions. Even now, I find it fascinating how this quote has continued to influence me in ways that still unfold. You see, Life is indeed the biggest race. There are countless skills to master, battles to fight, and so many other quests to conquer. However, the simplest hack to life is finding a rewarding focus and doubling down on it. Think about what you love, enjoy, or find easy—Your talent, then make sure you widen the scope of this talent. For instance, writing is my therapy, I love it! Right now, I can write well enough because I already loved reading and writing stories from books and newspapers as early as 9 years old. During holidays, I'd spend hours reading and rewriting comprehension passages in a small notebook, reimagining each story in my voice and style. I was so obsessed and didn't even realize it. In my head, I just enjoyed reading and writing anything interesting. Plus, my mom being an English teacher meant I had access to plenty of textbooks and novels. Growing up, I became familiar with words and mastered the basics of writing, this laid the foundation to accelerate at 17 when I was introduced to the art of copywriting. I'm turning 21 in a few days, and it's crazy to think that I've been reading and writing for 12 years now! When you think about it, 12 years of experience in any field is a huge advantage! To put it in football terms, I've been "balling" with words before I was even aware of the game, so If you started writing at 16, I was already lightyears and planets away from you. Each year from then can lead to exponential growth such that the gap is nearly unbridgeable between us by 20! Is this a God-given talent? The reason it is so important to start as early as possible is because of the freedom to geek out and obsess as a child and teenager. As we enter adulthood, responsibilities and obligations often limit our ability to focus on our passions, making it challenging to maintain a state of pure obsession. Additionally, the fact that our neural pathways are still developing during this stage plays a big role. What's your thing? What gets you excited? What are you naturally good at? Have you started exploring and developing that talent yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Think about the superstars in various fields - The Messis,Ronaldos, Drakes, J Coles, Kendrick Lamars, Elon Musks, and Mark Zuckerbergs of this world. When did they start playing the game? Which of them started playing the game after university age? The truth is if you start too late, you might never be elite. Some of you reading this may never be elite, and you may never make it to the very highest levels because people started playing this game way before. You may never be able to beat them and that’s fine. What you can do is still go pro. You can still be the best in your hometown. You can still move from one level to another. It might be insanely difficult, but people have done it and will continue to do so in even more challenging circumstances. The most fundamental orientation in life is to live it as a competitive sport, to understand, to play, to enjoy & to win. Many people wait too long to realize that life is a rat race. Some individuals instinctively understand this from a young age and spend their entire lives playing to their strengths. While you're still unaware, still blind to the game, they're continuously leveling up. Don't be the person who used to love singing but never sings again. Don't be the talented artist who never draws again. Spend time with your skill, try and try again in private, gain confidence, get a chance on the tracks, and announce yourself to the world, it is not too late to go PRO, my friend! |
